Rep. John Boozman (R-AR)

By Cara Flinn

I've been writing to my Representative, John Boozman from Arkansas' 3rd district about twice a week ever since I heard Bill Moyers' interview with Bruce Fein and John Nichols. I've received two letters back from him in response...I thought you might like to read the one that came in the mail today.

Dear Ms. Flinn,

Thank you for contacting me regarding Vice President Dick Cheney. It was good to hear from you.

As you know, on April 24, 2007, Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) introduced House Resolution 333, which would offer articles of impeachment against Vice President Dick Cheney for high crimes and misdomeanors. These articles would accuse the Vice President of purposefully manipulating pre-Iraq War intelligence and openly threatening aggression against Iran, absent any cause. These are very serious accusations that must be reviewed carefully. While this is a serious matter, I believe that there are more immediate issues that Congress should be addressing, including illegal immigration, health care and moving forward with the situation in Iraq. However, please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind should H. Res. 333 be voted on in the House of Representatives.

Again, thank you for contacting me on this very important issue. Please be sure to visit our website at www.boozman.house.gov. I look forward to your continued correspondence.

Below this, Representative Boozman included the following handwritten note:

Cara, I am sorry that I disagree with you as does the vast majority of Congress which is controlled by significant majority in the House. Nancy Pelosi would have to initiate this and she disagrees with you. If further evidence were to turn up to justify your assertions then things could change. Thanks for your email. Judge Arnold did a great job & role model for us all.
